A powerful heading that highlights the newsletter
Hey parents & guardians!
Pastor Trevor here. While I know there are many things vying for your attention these days, our goal here in Central Youth is to make sure you stay up to date with everything happening here in CY in an intentional and personal way. This newsletter aims to serve you and your families by giving you a clear picture of what’s happening in the youth ministry here at Central Henderson. Everything you read here is specific to your student here at Henderson. Through this letter, you’ll read about life changing stories God is up to, what’s going on in Youth right now, next steps you and your students can take, and even resources to support your family’s faith journey together. We hope through this and through everything we do in CY that you know we love your students and are in this with you!
What is God doing in CY?
We had 840 students at our last CY Nights! One of my favorite things about these nights is that they are outreach driven, meaning we get so many new students coming to church on a Friday night. Across the board, our team got to pray with so many of these new students. They shared about their family struggles, suicidal thoughts, abuse in the home, and much more. God brought so much to the light for students during this night and was able to use our church to bring hope and healing in their situations. This is why we do what we do!
What is happening right now?
Next Saturday on October 5th, we’ll be officially launching small groups at our Groups Night! One of our core values in CY is that “we do life together”, meaning that students don’t have to go through this life or faith journey alone. Instead, we commit to doing life with the people God has surrounded us with, including a leader who can help guide us through the highs and lows of life! Whether your student has a small group yet or not, this is the night to be at to be at.
In addition, we are inviting you as a parent / guardian to this evening as well! Parents and students will be in the Apex together for our first portion of the gathering. You’ll get to hear vision on where Central Youth is and meet our entire leader team. From there, parents and students will split off. Students will head to small groups with their leader, and parents will gather together to hear about how you can help this small group season, an update on Ignite summer camp, and ask any questions you may have regarding your student here in CY.
Weekend Series: Ask Me Anything
AMA stands for “Ask Me Anything” and provides an opportunity typically for social media platforms to engage with their followers, where they have to answer any question people ask. This series will be our own version of that, and will be a chance to answer some questions and topics we normally don’t get to tackle as a youth ministry!
Here’s what we’ll be tackling each weekend in CY:
October 5th+6th
Does Jesus care about politics?
Helping students see that Jesus is on the throne and He is who we put our trust in.
October 5th+6th
Why doesn’t God change me instantly?
Helping students see that Jesus is on the throne and He is who we put our trust in.
October 5th+6th
Does it matter what I put into my body?
Helping students see that Jesus is on the throne and He is who we put our trust in.
October 5th+6th
What does Jesus about “the other side”?
Helping students see that Jesus is on the throne and He is who we put our trust in.
CY Impact Team
Did you know that we have a platform for students to give right back to their youth ministry? Their gifts of generosity make a direct impact on the ministry they are involved in! If God is tugging on your students heart for them to trust God with their finances and to make a bigger impact, they can scan the QR code here!
One other way you can make an impact is by joining us in prayer for our team. Recently, we’ve made an effort to ensure that our weekend experience in Youth includes worship on a consistent basis. Our worship team right now includes a team of students and leaders who love to serve and give back in this area. We’re praying as a ministry for God to provide more support in this area with a dedicated worship leader or music director who could fully invest their time and gifts into our youth worship team! God is still doing great things in the meantime, but we believe that having more support in this area will lead to a greater worship experience for your students!
Meet the Team
In case you don’t know, here at Henderson we have a team dedicated to serving you and your students. Beyond our small group leaders and weekend volunteers, there are a group of interns who feel a call to ministry and serve at a deeper level each and every week.
